NFL 2020 Draft Day: What You Need to Know

Despite the outbreak of the coronavirus, the NFL Draft is still on. While the original plan to host the draft in Las Vegas had to be scratched, the NFL has made the draft completely virtual. This year’s draft could not be done without the help of Microsoft Teams, and all the weight of this year’s success falls on their shoulders. While team executives from across the league have their adjusted draft setups ready to go, fans wait in anticipation for an actual, real live sports event. The WNBA draft on April 17, 2020 was completely digital aswell and went off without a hitch, so the NFL has some precedent to rely on.

What You Need to Know

The 2020 NFL Draft schedule is as follows:

Round 1: April 23, 2020 at 8 P.M. EST

Rounds 2 & 3: April 24, 2020 at 7 P.M. EST

Rounds 4-7: April 25, 2020 at 12 P.M. EST

You can view the draft from the comfort of your home during quarantine on ESPN, NFL Network or ABC. You can also stream the draft on the ESPN and NFL apps.

Commissioner Roger Goodell will announce this year’s draft picks from the comfort of his basement in his New York home. The infamous tradition of booing Goodell will continue despite this draft going completely virtual. Bud Light started a campaign on Twitter encouraging fans to post a video of them booing, and then tag Bud Light and use #BooTheCommish. To make things even better, each tweet using #BooTheCommish will donate $1 to NFL Draft-a-Thon up to $500k to help raise funds for COVID-19 relief.
